YT28 Air-Leg Rock Drill
The YT28 is a heavy-duty pneumatic air-leg rock drill for horizontal and inclined blasthole drilling in medium to hard rock (f8–f18). It is used in underground mines, tunnels and galleries, and in infrastructure and construction works. It runs on the FT160BC or FT160BD air-leg and can also be mounted on rigs, wagons or sleds. Its grouped control system supports air-on, water-on, air-off and water-off modes, and the FY200B external line oiler is included. SET Makina has been building rock drills since 1991, and the YT28 is available in two versions: TIGER (premium) and LIGER (economy).

What is the difference between TIGER YT28 and LIGER YT28?
Both have the same performance specifications. TIGER YT28 is the premium version: CE marked, supplied with a 6-month warranty, a spare parts kit for one year of use and a serial number registered to the buyer. LIGER YT28 is the economy version, sold at a lower price without warranty, spare parts kit or CE marking.
Which version should I choose for my site?
Choose TIGER for continuous production, export projects or any site where CE marking is required. LIGER suits short projects, small quarries and contractors working on a tight budget where CE marking is not required. When you request a quote we send the price and features of both.
What is the difference between the YT24 and the YT28?
The YT28 is the heavier machine: ~84 N·m of impact energy against ~75 N·m, a higher impact frequency and 26 kg against 24 kg. It also needs more air. The YT24 is lighter to handle and uses less air, which suits smaller compressors.
Which air-leg does the YT28 use?
The YT28 works with the FT160BC or FT160BD air-leg. It can also be mounted on a rig, wagon or sled.
What compressor do I need for the YT28?
The YT28 consumes 4.80 m³/min of air at a working pressure of 6 bar, through a 3/4" air inlet. Choose a compressor with some extra capacity to cover hose losses. The drill should work within a maximum distance of 100 m from the compressor; for longer distances you need a TIGER Air Receiver.
Can the YT28 drill with water flushing?
Yes. The YT28 has a water connection as standard and works with air and water flushing, which keeps dust down when drilling horizontal and inclined holes underground.
